Caryopteris x clandonensis commonly called bluebeard blue spirea or blue mist is a low mounded deciduous shrub that is valued for its aromatic foliage and late summer flowers which are said to resemble clouds of blue smoke or mist. Deep blue flowers are richer than other caryopteris varieties and will attract butterflies to late summer gardens. Caryopteris x clandonensis inoveris bluebeard or grand bleu is a small deciduous shrub of tight and compact habit with a profusion of deep blue flowers in late summer to fall. Dark knight blue mist spirea caryopteris clandonensis blooms with a profusion of dark blue flowers in late summer when few other shrubs are flowering.

Attractive to butterflies bees and other beneficial insects they contrast nicely with the large glossy dark green aromatic leaves with silvery underneath.
