Although often thought of as a wetland plant it is drought tolerant. It will indeed languish if allowed to get too dry. Rapid growing reaching 8 feet to 15 feet with a fountain like form these relatives of spirea have similar dense clusters of tiny white flowers in early summer. It is found in the coast ranges and the sierras.
